True Peace comes from God alone

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)

It is only through God that we get true peace.  It cannot be found in the worldly objects but it comes as a result of God communion.  Jesus says, ‘My peace I give to you’.  What is special about this peace which God gives us is that it is different from the peace which world gives.  The worldly peace is transient and temporary.  The worldly peace is dependent on worldly things.  For example, you are peaceful when you get the object of your desire, whether it is a new car, a new house or a new job.  But this doesn’t last long.  Why?  Because that is the nature of our mind.  We cannot be truly peaceful with all material comforts.  If this was not so, many would not have committed suicides in their air-conditioned rooms.  Contrary to this, the true peace is given by God.  God is infinite and he resides in every being.  He is in the microcosm and the macrocosm.  He is the true object of our desire.  Like the Musk Deer searching for the smell everywhere not realizing that it is coming from itself, in the same way Man searches for peace and happiness in the wrong place.  True peace is a significant condition of the mind and not dependent on material comforts.  It is experienced within and is the fruit of God communion.

The true longing of the Soul is to be in communion and united with the Created.  Therefore Jesus says,  ‘Peace I leave with you’.  The kind of peace which Lord Jesus gives helps us to overcome life’s problems and sorrows.

May Lord Jesus bless you to experience true peace and joy in life.
